On the morning of April 8, the three carriers including China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom jointly released the White Paper on 5G Message which explains the core concepts of 5G message to bring about brand new human-machine interaction mode and offer brand new information services based on GSMA RCS UP2.4 standard.
Since this year, topics about 5G including 5G investment of 200 billion, accelerated construction of 5G network, over 1 million 5G users in multiple cities have continued to gain attention and new 5G applications are ready to come out. 5G message brings the discussion on 5G application in industries to a new level. RCS co-builds new ecosystem of 5G message
According to the White Paper on 5G Message, “5G message, based on GSMA RCS UP standard, is able to include multi-media and become lightweight, and through introducing MaaP, commercial message becomes interactive 5G message brings about brand new human-machine interaction mode that users can have one-stop commercial experience from service search, discovery, interaction to payment in the message window, thus offering a brand new message service portal” To put it simply, RCS is an upgraded version of traditional SMS with new functions such as live chat for customer service, online shopping and short video marketing while covering the original functions. It promotes the intelligent application of SMS.

According to the White Paper on 5G Message, users can trigger Chatbot through a variety of ways such as clicking search results after searching in message search box, clicking websites on a browser, scanning QR code, entering Chatbot ID and enter message interaction interface.
Under carriers’ network, enterprises and individual users can communicate through Chatbot. Individual users send messages to enterprise users in formats such as text, picture, audio, video, expression and location. Enterprise users send messages to individual users in above formats with additional functions of sending RCS cards and option list, which is similar to functions of WeChat applets and official accounts.
Chatbot is similar to Siri in 5G message, which makes B2C message unlike the previous mode of “termination upon receipt”. For example, in the dialogue box with 12306, individual users can book tickets, make payment and change tickets conveniently through sending audio or text to Chatbot, clicking on key words.
